Design/Build Projects

Design/build is a method of project delivery that involves a single contract for both the design and construction of a project. Design/build contracts can offer owners and developers several benefits if well prepared, including singular responsibility, reduced time and cost for planning and construction, reduced risk, less administrative work, and early knowledge of firm costs.

With design/build projects, clients typically communicate their desires clearly in a detailed request for proposal, specifying performance criteria in lieu of specific construction details, which leaves some of the decision-making to the design/build team. The design/build team, once selected, prepares design documents to a level necessary to obtain the required agency approvals and construct the project.

Bourgon & Associates is currently working on several design/build projects of varying size and scope, including Dominion Place, now under construction, and the recently-completed Central St. Lawrence Valley RCMP Detachment and the Martintown Community Centre and Fire Hall. 

In recent years, other design/build projects we have completed include the Super 8 Motel and 12 Flags commercial development on Brookdale Avenue and 13th Street Medical Centre.
